Effrat Akiri is a Ph.D. candidate at the Faculty of Education in Science and Technology at the Technion, Israel Institute of Technology. She received her B.Sc. from the Department of Industrial Engineering and Management at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Technion.
She also finished a Master’s degree in Group Counseling at Haifa University, Israel. During her career, Effrat has been a management consultant, information systems analyst, and planning analyst. Her doctoral research is focused on novice and expert science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) teachers, their professional growth, and the relationships between the mentors and their mentees – the novice teachers. The research takes a system perspective on teachers’ professional growth, personal and interpersonal relationships, and the importance of teaching and assessing STEM disciplines.
